The 2025 work symposium series on the Strong Foundation Program was recently held successfully at Zhejiang University's Zijingang Campus. Responsible persons from all 14 majors under the Strong Foundation Program attended the meetings.

    On behalf of the Chu Kochen Honors College, Vice Dean Lu Xin expressed gratitude to all departments for their emphasis on and investment in the Strong Foundation Program, which has produced a number of solid outcomes. She presented a report titled Strong Foundation Program at Zhejiang University: Overview of Enrollment and Cultivation, which summarized the program's six-year development in student recruitment and training, analysed existing challenges, and outlined directions fuor future improvement. She interpreted the relevant content of the draft "Zhejiang University's Implementation Work on Further Optimizing the Strong Foundation Program Training Plan" for soliciting comments. This includes further optimizing the training plan and improving the curriculum, strengthening the procedural management of the mentorship system and deepening the integration of science and education, optimizing the transition from undergraduate to post-graduate studies to promote interdisciplinary initiatives, and refining academic evaluation to strengthen the dynamic entry and exit mechanism.  

Panel Discussion and Exchange Session

Session 1

    Vice Dean Xi Yakun from the School of Mathematical Sciences, Vice Dean Lu Yunhao from the School of Physics, Vice Dean Ye Chuyu from the School of Agriculture and Biotechnology, and Professor Ye Lidan, the responsible professor for the Bioengineering (Strong Foundation Program) at the College of Chemical and Biological Engineering, engaged in a lively discussion regarding "integration of science and education and the implementation of scientific research practice; interdisciplinary courses and 1+N diversified development during the Transition from undergraduate to post-graduate studies; improving quality and efficiency through the introduction of a Dynamic Entry and Exit competitive mechanism."

Session 2

    Four professors attended the meeting, including Wang Linjun, Vice Dean of the School of Chemistry; Zhao Pei, Vice Dean of the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics; Hu Weiwei, Vice Dean of the school of Basic Medical Sciences; Xu Juan, Professional Responsibility Professor in the school of College of Life Sciences, Ecology (Strong Foundation Program). They had a deep discussion about some measures like supporting juniors to attend introduction courses, helping professional enlightenment, encouraging improve standards of Discipline Split-Flow and the quality of the plan, optimizing settings of transition from undergraduate to post-graduate studies and promoting cross disciplinary projects.

Session 3

    Shi Wenlei, Vice Dean of the School of Literature, Xiao Ruping, Vice Dean of the School of History, and Lou Wei, Vice Dean of the School if Philosophy, had a deep discussion about measures like making a further standards of Discipline Split-Flow in humanity, encouraging tight interaction and two-dimension selection between teachers and students, and implementing procedural management by enhancing the system of honor.
