Interviewing

The current interview process was divided into four distinct areas to host the interview, each accommodating approximately 30 individuals and conducting interviews in groups of five. The interview venue was decorated with a huge backdrop embodying the spirit of the Asian Games, accompanied by promotional posters and an iconic KT board with motivational slogans for attendees to take a snap and post on Internet. Eagerly anticipating the event, volunteers arrived early and waited for their turns, instilling the venue with an palpable atmosphere of Asian Games.

The interview consists of three sections: English self-introduction, English situational simulation and question time. These three segments comprehensively evaluate the volunteer's presenting skills, linguistic proficiency, adaptability and collaboration skills. Not only are students required to succinctly share in English about their experiences and strengths, but they also need to respond to assessors’ questions about emergency scenarios, posing a significant challenge. However, the students of CKC performed gracefully and calmly, providing compelling responses from multiple perspectives, exhibiting fluent oral expression and showcasing their enthusiastic service ethos, strong dedication, stunning psychological resilience, unique personal charm, epitomizing the positive and proactive attitude of students of ZJU.

As an esteemed college naming after the prestigious former president of ZJU, Mr. Chu Kochen, Chu Kochen Honors College(CKC) has persistently guided its students towards “entertaining lofty ambitions and pursuing eternal excellence”. The college places great emphasis on the voluntary work services for Hangzhou Asian Games, meticulously framing work plans and conducting multiple rounds of selections to procure a contingent of highly capable, selfless, and resilient volunteers, who are poised to make an indelible impression on the Asian Games through their unwavering commitment and dedication.

Voice of the Volunteers

This is my first time to participate in a volunteer interview for such a great event, and also my first time to take part in an English interview. I am really excited and nervous! I have been always hoping to have the opportunity to become a volunteer in international activities, which could not only exercise myself, but also serve others. The Asian Games just gave me this valuable opportunity. I strongly wish the Asian Games a success!

——Yixuan

There are a large quantity of people participating in the interview, and everyone is excellent as well. We are very enthusiastic about the Asian Games, wanting to contribute to this world event!

——Zhang Xiaoning

In the summer of 2022, the scorching heat arrived as scheduled, but our Asian Games was late. However, the beautiful acquaintance may be late, but she will never be absent. Friends of all countries, Hangzhou is ready, and the Asian Games is ready! We are waiting for you to come, and we will go for it together! I believe this will be an unparalleled Asian Games!

Voice of Judges

English judge Lu Jingwen:

During the interview, most students were able to showcase their strengths in English appropriately in just one minute and calmly provide reasonable and feasible solutions to challenging English situational improvisation questions. Although some students may have been too nervous, their overall performance was impressive, demonstrating the youthful vigor and international perspective of Zhejiang University's young volunteers.

English judge Jiang Xinrong:

The service ability and enthusiasm demonstrated by the students impressed me, and your presence has added youthful strength to the preparation work for the Asian Games. Although the assessment format requires a high level of English proficiency from the interviewees, in actual volunteer service, teamwork is often more important. Not all service positions require volunteers to have excellent English skills, but each volunteer should have the ability to solve problems on the spot, which still needs to be achieved through teamwork.

Overall evaluator Bao Chenchen:

I am honored to serve as an interviewer for the volunteer interviews for the CKC College Asian Games. During the interview process, I saw many outstanding CKC students' excellent oral expression and flexible on-site performance... The students shone with the precious spirits of volunteering.

According to the recruitment requirements, out of 130 interviewees, 83 will ultimately stand out and become the selected volunteers for the Asian Games event services. Regardless of the results, the volunteers who participated in the selection process have integrated their sincere enthusiasm into the grand international event and will make more contributions with their own efforts. We believe that the Little Green Lotus from CKC College will live up to expectations and contribute to the smooth holding of the Asian Games with the strength of Zhejiang University.
