Enhance Teachers’ Guide, Promote Students’ Future On the afternoon of April 30, CKC held the special conference of major selection in the Waterside Auditorium. All the 09 students and their class advisors attended this conference. Deputy Dean Tang Xiaowu gave an introduction of developed majors and their future trends in ZJU. He extended his hope that students should make a balance between unpopular and popular majors with cautious consideration of future development and proper knowledge of life, and bond their ideals and majors together. On the afternoon of April 28, CKC held the conference of mentor selection to clarify the guiding policy and response to students’ questions. All the 08 studengts attended this conference.

    Deputy Dean Tang Xiaowu introduced the background and significance of mentoring system and emphasized the qualification of mentors. Moreover, he required all students establish lofty ideals and realized their identities as high-quality talents. After that, Mr Zhou Yongming brought a more detailed introduction of all the rules. At last, Professor Jiang Jianzhong, the winner of Outstanding Youth Fund, was invited to give a lecture to illustrate the importance of mentoring system as a mentor.

    Background Information: Mentoring System Mentoring system is a crucial link of the training mechanism in CKC college,which provides vaster space for students´ study and development. With this system, comprehensive and rudiment-centered training at the earlier stage is followed by specialized cultivation of research capacity. It allows teachers to employ their guiding ability and students to be more active in the training process of undergraduates, which contributes to the goal of individualized cultivation. According to the plan of CKC, students of Grade 2008 will select their mentors and set down their personal training plans from April 23 to May 31 on the basis of previous introduction.
