On the afternoon of Oct. 25th, the beginning ceremony of the first Shennong Elite Class of CKC college was held in the International Conference Center of Zijingang campus. The chief professor of Shennong Class, Professor Ying Yibin, gave an introduction of the establishment of this class.

    After that, President Yang Wei addressed an important lecture. He attached great importance to the necessity of Shennong Class and emphasized that the Shennong Class is based on the education philosophy of Zhejiang University, which is "cultivating students with integrated development, pursuit of excellence, and eagerness to be future leaders with worldwide vision". Professor Chenjing, the deputy dean of undergraduate college, and professor Zhang Guoping, the dean of agriculture-biology-environment department also gave brief talks to express their expectations and requirements to Shennong Elite Class.

    At the beginning ceremony, Chen Ziyuan, the representative student of Shennong Class, got a class badge from the professors who placed both wishes and responsibility on the students. The professors took a photo with all the Shennong students and all the students took oath to work hard in university and devote themselves to the development of China´s agriculture. Professor Chen Jing brought a lecture on How To Be The Elite. He clasified the nature of innovation, the method of cultivating creativity and how to be a creative talent. Especially, he emphasized that innovation requires not only knowledge in limited field but also knowledge of arts, literature and humanities.

    Only the people who can diversify themselves shall attain great achievement in major fields. Professor Chen’s lecture was full of witty and humorous language, which received tons of applaud from students. Besides, Professor Chen would give courses on leadership to the Shennong sudents, which excited all the students.

    Other leaders who attended the beginning ceremony included Professor Lou Chengfu and Professor Jin Peihua.
