Bearing the theme "Life with Oceans ", a public lecture was delivered by Professor Chen Ying on November 30th at the East zone. Teacher Wu Weidong attended the lecture as special guest. Professor Chen, the director of Department of Ocean Science and Engineering (DOSE) of ZJU, has made great contribution to the scientific research in oceanography. He gave us a brief introduction to the status of different oceans and the significant role oceans play in different fields.

    Furthermore, Professor Chen impressed us with the great progress the Department has made in recent years as well as the broad space for students´ further research in DOSE. He encouraged us to achieve success on the research on oceans. Students felt impressed by the lecture, and had a more profound understanding of oceans and deeper interest in ocean research.
