As one of the classical activities of Chu Kochen College, the "face to face with Dean" themed activity was carried out in the form of an unplugged musical cocktail party, bringing an feast of seeing and hearing. Two opening ceremonies initiated the dean´s micro blog, one access to the dean and the Growing in Preeminence-Hui´s Workshop. College leaders, counsellors, head teachers, excellent seniors and the representatives from first-rate societies were in attendance at the party.
They share ideas with the students, talking about the pleasant college life in CKC College. Several days before the party, students raised some questions about the college construction, life, academic life, career plan and so on by leaving messages on Mr. Chen´s micro blog. Five typical messages were picked out, which were the most concerned problems. Mr. Chen would answer them one by one. Freshmen of 2010 were so eager to see the dean that university history museum was crowded with people as early as half an hour before the activity. A relaxing and comforting mood were set up by the soft lighting and gentle music.
At the party, freshmen were all warmly welcomed by seniors. The seniors exchanged their life experiences with freshmen. Societies of our college displayed their achievements. All students were singing and dancing festively at the party, with all their talents shown out. As another classical project in CKC College, Growing in Preeminence-Hui´s Workshop combines mental counselling and career guidance. It is named after teacher Zhang Hui, who is in charge of the mental related work in university. The name also implies "enlighten wisdom" for the character Hui means wisdom in Chinese. The counselling team consists of college leaders, counsellors, head teachers and excellent seniors.
The job would be carried out in popular ways among post-90 generation such as blog-appointment. After the song "Courage" sung by Mr. Chen, He together with Dean Lu, Mr. Zhong and other teachers present at the party started to talk amicably with the students. It was feedbacked by students that they learned a lot in this activity. It was very fun and relaxing. Besides it was a good approach to communicate with leaders and faculty. More activities of such kind are expected to be held in future.
