On the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the birth of the distinguished president, Chu Kochen, and the tenth anniversary of establishment of the CKC Honors College, the first Yangtze Delta Honors College Union Summit was held by the college. Outstanding students from five excellent universities – Nanjing University, Southeast University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, East China University of Science & Technology and Zhejiang University – were gathered to freely offer advice and suggestions about how to cultivate top and creative talents.

    On the morning of May 8, participants of the Model President Forum stated their idea of talent training from the perspective of university president. In the afternoon, representatives from each university exchanged their opinions toward the current educational pattern, especially on the actual operation level. During the forum, all of the five delegates showed their distinctive scintillation and profound understanding of education and humanity by delivering speeches on the concept of top creative talent, on topics like educational system, idea, structure and on the relationship between teaching and fostering talent. eputy Dean Tang Xiaowu of CKC looked back at the history of talent training with great passion.

    He introduced the features and achievements of the current mode, emphasizing the college´s people-oriented and national concept, and expressed his high expectation for students. Though each Honors College is different in names and training approaches, they shared the idea of comprehensive education and similarly combined general education with individualized professional training to foster elites with international perspective, high-quality and innovative ability.

    Educational philosophy needs innovation and persistent attempts. The Summit is indeed an instructive exploration. It is believed that with deepened communication, the educational mode will getting maturer through constant exploration; Mr. Qian Xuesen’s question "why can´t Chinese schools foster elites?" will be answered one day.
