March 7 is the 120th anniversary of former President Chu Kochen’s birth. In order to memorialize President Chu and develop students´ love towards school and country, an opening ceremony for the Cultural Festival in the theme of "Loving School, Glorying College" was held in front of Chu Kochen´s bronze statue on the morning of March 13. Later starting from the statue, a relay race around Qi Zhen Lake would come off.

    During the opening ceremony, short speeches were given by leaders of school and college on the history of President Chu leading the whole university westward, his passion for China´s education and his firm faith in running school. Then, Deputy Dean Tang Xiaowu declared the opening of the cultural festival as well as the start of the relay race. Tang shot the starting gun himself, and the race began. President Chu devoted all his life to China´s education and science.

    His persistence in educational policy and philosophy of his own and his daring to blaze new trails are are precious treasure he left for students in ZJU. This relay race and the coming "Loving school, Glorying College"cultural festival will enhance CKC students’ moral power.
