In order to provide a better platform for students to express their ideas freely, leaders of CKC had an informal discussion with student representatives on October 26th, 2009, aiming to solve the problems students encountered in daily life. Deputy Secretary of Party General Branch directly under the CPC, Zhong Rongrong, Deputy Dean Tang Xiaowu, Chief of Special Cultivating Office, Zhou Yongming, Secretary of League Committee, Zhang Hui, Deputy Secretary of League Committee, Xie Ming, Counselor Lian Yanle and over thirty student representatives from different grades attended the discussion.

Student representatives brought up questions and confusion both from themselves and from school fellows. Face to face, college leaders explained in detail about those questions and responded to students´ prior proposals. The atmosphere in the meeting room was relaxing and lively. Deputy Dean Tang Xiaowu delivered a speech first, affirming the effort made by the Student-Right-protection Department and the value of this discussion.

Afterwards, the college leaders answered questions about school study, with an emphasis on bilingual teaching, the necessity of some compulsory courses and the recognition of honor courses and honor status. The discussion shortened the distance between students and college leaders. Many problems cared by students were solved and the leaders also realized what should be done in the future. Student representatives regarded this kind of discussion to be timely, necessary and effective.

They looked forward to a long-term communication mechanism between students and college leaders, with which development could be achieved by mutual efforts from both sides.
