On December 18th 2009, CKC College’s lecture series, "Hero Pub on Mount Chu", reopened. Dr. Xu Hang was invited to give a lecture to the students of CKC entitled "From Physics to Finance to Financial Technology". Dr. Xu Hang received his doctorate from Harvard University and went on doing post-doctoral work at Princeton.

    Subsequently, he founded the Heng Tai Software Company and is now the CEO and chairman of the board. Before the lecture started, Professor Tang Xiaowu, the Deputy Dean, awarded the CKC badge to Dr. Xu and introduced the series lecture by talking about how the title, "Hero Pub on Mount Chu" came into being. Dr. Xu started his lecture by showing photographs of his life as a student at University of Science and Technology of China, Harvard University and Princeton University.

    Next, he discussed the current financial industry and financial technology by defining quantitative finance, financial skills, and how to use financial technology. Dr. Xu had also talked about current problems in the financial area. During the lecture, Dr. Xu adopted a witty manner to explain financial problems, provoking thoughts and generating interests from students about the financial industry.

    During the following Question and Answer period, a good many questions which featuring students´ unique viewpoints and sharp thoughtfulness were raised. Dr. Xu answered each question thoroughly and was met with applause by the students attending.
